Kate-Marie Mitchell, POINT Youth Centre, Fishguard and Goodwick Young Persons Trust

At the heart of POINT’s youth work in Fishguard is Kate-Marie Mitchell, whose exceptional dedication has transformed the lives of young people across north Pembrokeshire for over 17 years.

Through POINT’s welcoming drop-in service, Kate creates a safe, non-judgemental environment where young people aged 10–25 feel heard, valued and empowered to thrive. Kate’s trauma-informed and empathetic approach enables young people to navigate complex challenges, turning difficult experiences into opportunities for growth. She builds trusted relationships that strengthen confidence, resilience and a genuine sense of belonging, ensuring young people are supported to shape their own futures. This powerful, relationship-based approach ensures young people are not only supported but truly heard and inspired.

Judges considered that beyond her direct work with young people, Kate also inspires and empowers her team, modelling the very best of youth work values and fostering a culture of compassion, inclusion and collaboration.

Zoe Davies, Strategic & Governance Manager, POINT, Fishguard and Goodwick Young Person's Trust shared:

"Kate has a natural ability to connect with young people, creating safe spaces where they feel understood, valued, and able to express themselves fully."
