Mind Our Future Gwent, ProMo Cymru and Mind in Gwent

‘Mind Our Future Gwent’ works with young people to co-produce solution-focused approaches to mental health support.  The project is led by ProMo Cymru and Mind in Gwent, working in partnership with NHS Wales, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and five local authority youth services in Gwent, but has also influenced practice across the country.

The young people employed by the project are supported by their youth workers to design and deliver meaningful mental health solutions for their peers, whilst developing transferable skills in communication, teamwork and leadership. The project is not only improving access to relevant, responsive mental health support, but also creating lasting pathways for young people to influence systems, build resilience and drive positive change within their communities.

Judges considered the project to be an exemplar, demonstrating the power of partnership and youth voice and setting a benchmark for how collaboration can drive lasting improvements in mental health support for young people across Wales.

One of the young people on the project commented,

“I’ve felt empowered at every stage of the project… having the responsibility and agency to enact real change has been the most impactful part.”
